Biodegradable Sunglasses

Biodegradable Sunglasses

Our biodegradable sunglasses are made from wood, bio-acetate or bio-plastic. Bio-acetate and bio-plastic are plant based and both degrade a lot faster than traditional plastic or acetate. These sunglasses will last a lifetime on your face but when placed in the environment of a composter, will be almost gone within a matter of months.

Better Than The Rest

cheap fake sunglasses

What's wrong with sunnies

Sadly most sunglasses are made from petroleum-based virgin plastics that take upwards of 450 years to decompose.

A sheet of traditional acetate contains about 40% petroleum-derived plasticisers and stabilisers, and up to 75% of it is wasted during the manufacture of sunglasses.

As a shopper, it's often impossible to know what your sunglasses are made of and the environmental impact they have had.

Our sunglasses are different. Read on.

Better, from start to finish

Our biodegradable sunglasses are kinder to the environment when they are made and also at the end of their life.

For example, the bio-acetate in our sunglasses has been certified to be biodegradable to ISO 14855.

This means they will be more than 90% gone in just 115 days under industrial composting conditions.
